I have some questions. On a 66 truck, Is the 1/2 ton frame different from a 3/4 ton frame? I have a 3/4 ton camper special I purchased to pull my street rod, and now have an opportunity to buy a very clean low mile 1/2 ton. I bought the 3/4 tone for towing capacity. The context for my questions is, can I swap in the 3/4 ton rear axle and springs for towing from a 3/4 ton to 1/2 ton truck easily?

Thanks! Frank

here are the frame differences

Frame dimensions are as follows:
1963-66

½ ton 2WD: 6-1/32 x 2-1/2 x 5/32

¾ ton 2WD: 6-1/8 x 2-17/32 x 3/16

One ton 2WD: 8-1/8 x 2-13/16 x 3/16

½ ton 4WD 115” WB: 8-1/32 x 2-25/32 x 9/64

½ ton 4WD 127” WB: 8-1/8 x 2-13/16 x 3/16

¾ ton 4WD: 8-1/8 x 2-13/16 x 3/16

As you can see, even the ½ ton 4WD long bed uses the same size frame member
as the one ton 2WD.

1960-62 frame ,measurements

½ ton 2WD: 5-15/32 x 2-1/4 x 1/8
¾ ton 2WD: 7-3/16 x 2-3/4 x 3/16
½ and ¾ ton 4WD: 7-13/64 x 2-3/4 x 3/16
