Hi,

How is rear driveshaft been handled when connecting to 12 bolt rear? Can I just change the U Joint with a univeral type ( I believe its 1310/1330 or do I have to remove the rear driveshaft Pinion Yoke for something other then the stock 3600 Yoke.

Most shops that can do driveshaft work will have a solution for you. Best of luck.

What he ^ said.
The way they'd go about it is to either change the yoke on the driveshaft to match the rear axle or possibly use a u-joint that's one size on one part of the cross and another size on the other part to match up. You'll likely be messing with the driveshaft anyway, so welding on a new matching yoke isn't that big a deal.

Messing with the yoke on the rear axle potentially introduces issues with bearing preload or pinion seal.

If you get one of those born-to-an-unwed-mother u-joints, do yourself a favor and put the empty box in your glove box so that when it defecates the bed away from home, you will know exactly what you need to replace it.

I'd make sure that box also has a brand new U joint in it- - - -chances are having the right part number only and not the part itself is an open invitation to a guy named Murphy along for the ride. "Yeah, we found that part- - - -it's in a warehouse in Hong Kong- - - -be here in about a week!"

I have a binder for each truck, every part I buy, gets the box end with the PN on in that binder.

That's why putting a matching yoke on the end of the driveshaft is a better solution. U-joint will be a standard size on both ends of the cross. Less likely to need a non-standard, hen's teeth part.
