Hi folks,

currently rebuilding the brake system on my L.C.F. So can anybody tell me, what the main brake cylinder cap from a 56 Chevy L.C.F. looks like from above or better has a pic of it!? Former owner has damaged the cap badly... 😬 And is there a gasket there originally under the cap?

And anybody knows where I can find rebuild kits for the Hydrovac Booster of this truck!?

Thanks in advance
Rico

Hy wildatheart76, welcome, the o.e.m. part number for the cap is 5455826 apparently it had the words "use GMC Brake Fluid" in raised letters. I have no picture and I can't remember if it had a hex shape or a square shape which you turned to remove it. I tried crossing the o.e.m. part number on Napa's website but nothing came up. There was a gasket under the cap o.e.m. part number 080445 1 1/4" I.D. X 1 11/16" O.D. X 1/16" thick fibre, you might try doing a search on Ebay for those part numbers, hope that helps.

American classic part # BR0304 would probably fit. http://www.americanclassic.com/asp/dynca...amp;exyear=1959

1 1/4" thread diameter, check your thread diameter and see what it is. Mine has a hex shape on the top.

as far as the htydravac, here is a note I pulled from another thread a while ago.
DS in VA has done a very good job for me, 276-322-3119, Jeff is the hydrovac gentleman, very knowledgeable, reasonable prices, unlike some others.

Thanks for the answers!

After further cleaning and inspection of the cap it seems it had a hex shape (could've been 5/8" size) and the embossed letters I hardly could read say "USE EIS HEAVY DUTY FLUID" and "EIS W944".
So it seems it is a different cap as on your trucks!?
Thread diameter is 1 9/16".

Seems I should try to restore it to the original hex shape...

This is how it looks like at the moment:

Edit: Try to make a link out of the URL, but don't know, why it doesn't work... ☹️

I would try fixing that one. Looking on Napa's website, they have a rebuilt master cylinder for 41.99 but it has a plastic cap.
