Bought a complete door kit, for my 51 GMC, that has a rubber deal that the wing window closes against. The sent a bunch of little rivets and a rivet punch. I can't see how you would be able to seat the rivets since the vent frame is in the way of your hammer.
I tried to spread one rivet on my anvil and it took some pretty heavy whacks.

Any tricks, tips, or ideas?

Thanks

I couldn't get the rivet/rivet punch to work either. I found pop rivets work. That is what holds my rubber strap on my wing window.

No problem. I am not a profectionist or originalist.

I got the best results squeezing the rivets/tool in a vise.

the rivet punch supplied goes against one side and is smucked w/ yer hammer, the other side needs to be held against an appropriate size/shape "anvil" - does help to have some experience setting grommets grin

Thanks guys

I think I'll go the pop rivet route and hopefully avoid the originalist rivet police.
