I've decided to bite the bullet and buy a rebuilt carb for my 51 (1954 235 C.I.). Checked several vendors online, Rock Auto has a decent price, but I have no experience with them, although TV ads make them sound reputable. Looking for advice from those who have "Been there, Done that" Thanks guys, John

I have read that the rebuilt carbs that are sold by parts houses are assembled from a pile of parts. There were many different configurations for the Rochester carbs so what you get is a frankencarb. I think you'd be better off to have yours rebuilt. It may cost a little more but you get what you pay for.

Thanks Cletis. Part of the reason I was thinking of buying is mine has been rebuilt out of at least two carbs. I may see if I can find a rebuildable core and get a good kit. The truck sat all winter, ran good last year, but now I have to choke it to keep it running, even after she's warmed up, I'm thinking sediment or something in main jet. John
