So we got the fuel line bled and connected to the rebuilt carb on the rebuilt engine (already broke in, found carb problems). Runs with a small stumble. Gets much worse when under load (tried TI do short drive). Had my son watch fuel filters and found bubbling into filter matches stumble. Th rubberline from valve on bottom of tank is new and rest of line steel to the first filter. A filter on either side of pump. Suction from the pump to the pre filter is drawing air in.
When the engine is not running, there is no pre pump line pressure or vacuum.
Other than a little static head pressure from the tank.
Fuels pumps are just a small rubber diaphragm pump.
My suggestion is to get rid of the pre filter or move it to the discharge side of the pump.

I think I worded poorly. The "rest of the line is steel" is not new. Found it to be just barely damp over a 3" portion. Not wet, not leaking. We missed it in the poor light I guess.
BC2, 2-ton, I will keep the filter issue in mind once replacement steel line is in place. I put that filter in to catch any crap from the original fuel tank before it got to pump and filled it with crud.
MikeE that is definitively the problem! The carb doesn't like carb ination!
