My grill is rusted through in a few places, and bent up in a couple dozen more. Has anyone built their own custom grill? I can't afford to get a new one! | | | | | Joined: Oct 2016 Posts: 916 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Oct 2016 Posts: 916 | I need one too, but have read that the new chrome ones rust quickly. I like your idea of a custom grill..

Tubular grills used to be popular. A vendor on Ebay has 36" lengths of 3/4" stainless steel tubing for $10.00 apiece. With a little bracketing and polishing, I think I could make a pretty presentable grill assembly from that stuff. Jerry

Cut the leading edges to duplicate the shape of the stock bars. Use 3 pieces for each bar. It would be expensive, but it would look cool.

I like that idea but I dare say it would be heavy too,i've seen some custom fender spears done like that in aluminium for a 3D effect (and yes that's how we spell it here) It's not aloominum... 1950 Chevy Advance Design 3100 in ScotlandIn the Stovebolt GalleryMore pix on Flickr.
