Although these vehicle were never available with this engine option I am building it as possibly the factory would have done it? This project is a complete restoration and I was wondering what would you guys think a correct/good color would be for the engine? I believe the 283 was grey and the 327 was alpine green..Thanks for any imput. I just don't think orange would have been the color. You may want to research the first year 396's were offered in the truck. Think it would depend some on whether you are shooting for 66 correct which the 396 negates or the engine correct for color.

There are listings on it for 348s after '61 and 409s after '65. From what I've read in both shop manuals and several engine guides those engines ceased production in '61 and '65 respectivly. I'm somewhat curios about those engines still being listed, export production maybe?

Of course we're getting off subject, aren't we.
