Ever since I replaced my hood from a 62 to 66 style hood back to the original 60 to 61 style hood on my 1960 c10, the back part of the hood sticks up.
I used the correct hood latch in the front and it has no problems latching. I adjusted the hood hinges all the way forward and all the way back but no change.
Has anyone else ever run into this problem?

Your problem is VERY common. Most guys will lower the hinge all the way down and think that is lowering the hood, it isn't. You need to rotate it. Even with worn hinges on most cars you can put the rear of the hood MUCH lower than it will even work. So when they are worn you simply put them at the lower end of those worn pins, make sense? It is like a saging door, if you raise the door up so it aligns, what you have done is simply put the door up so the worn hinge is "right". Brian

A shot of oil and the hood corner would drop right down. Whether you use Brian's solution or not a squirt of oil on the moving hinge parts is always a good idea.

If they are shot (pins springs etc.) You'll be messin with it for eternity and won't get it right. Just like MartinSR said, you have to rotate the hinge in the opposite direction like if you were trying to "raise" it. I know it sounds crazy but lowering the hinge actually raises the back of the hood in some cases. Once you get it aligned right a drop of motor oil will keep em from binding. | | | | | Joined: Feb 2005 Posts: 199 Wrench Fetcher | | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Feb 2005 Posts: 199 | You might want to check the rubber bumpers on the back inside of the hood. They are designed to hit and sit on the cowl/air dam when the hood is shut. The bumbers (rubber part) is on an adjustiable bracket and the hood from another truck more than likely will not fit properly until that adjustment is made.
The plate on the cowl is easy to see and you will want to use a little spot of china marker or chalk to get the adjustment correct. You will want to adjust the brackets so they touch but not bind the hood up. This adjusment is important to eliminate hood rattle and to save those hinge pins.
Hope this helps, Hobert

It was the front bolts on the hinges.
Although they don't look like they adjust like the backs ones (the backs have that elongated slot), the little moment I did get out of them was enough to get the hood to sit down in the back.
I took the hood latch off which helped with the adjustments. Just hope when I get the latch back on, the hood still sits down in the back.
I also sprayed the hinges but didn't see any improvements.
Its funny, I have those rear bumpers on my 65 hood, but they don't exist on the 60 hood. I couldn't even find any holds where the brackets for the bumpers might be.
Thanks again.. This is one of those problems I said I would get too.. two years later!!
