http://imgur.com/WcG5RTZWhen I first bought my 58 Chevy 1/2 ton stepside in 2014, I was very optimistic about how long it would take to restore her to her former glory. One of the first things I noticed was that the wheels and tires would not make it long term. An acquaintance, who had quite a few 55-59 pickups in various states of disarray sold me 4 wheels that "came off of a 58". I immediately had them powder coated, and a picture of one of them is linked here.
I always thought they were early 15" rally wheels, but after reading every post here about wheels for the past 5 years, it seems I may be mistaken. They are, in fact,15"X 5 1/2-6" 6 lug wheels that have 4 slots and 3 nubs for mounting hub caps and a 3 3/4+- backspace. My understanding is that they can't be original wheels because they don't have the hubcap clips attached to them.
I would like to mount a set of the original style chrome hub caps that have the chevy emblems (4 I think) done in black, but the only ones I can find use only the clip mounting. I have seen the how-to post about modifying a more modern wheel to add the clips, but I'd like to just find some that mount to the wheels that I have already spent too much $$ on.
So---finally my questions. Can someone ID the wheels that I have? Does anyone know who might sell the above style hub caps that will mount to the newer wheels? Thanks for the help.
