Do all the splines on the 5 spline drive gear look good ?
The splines on my gear are wider or flatter in some ares. I have never seen another gear so I have nothing to compare it to..

I can see the pictures just fine. Those are not spines but gear teeth and to me they look A OK.

I have never seen a speedo gear with flatten 'lands' as shown in you pics. My question is...what did the damage?

Does anyone have a picture they could post of a drive gear so we can compare them to see the difference ????????

Some of the lands or flutes or what ever they are called seemed to be flattened very similar to pictures that I posted of my drive gear....
Would you consider this gear to be worn badly ?

If my speedo drive gear is shot then where can I obtain another one ?

Is it possible to file these lands where they are flattened so they would be less so ?????

I also just noticed that the drive gear is chamfered and that side is where the lands are the widest, not sure if that means anything.

NO, It is only a speedo gear, there is not much force on it, there wouldn't be a lot of wear. It is only driving the speedometer cable.

Yes, But that is not how they were designed.

I believe that is normal.

There are a lot of variables that go into getting the correct speedometer reading.
The above pages show: tire size, wheel size and ring & pinion teeth. Also possibly needed adapter.

I now have my speedometer back...

the cause of my problem was that I forgot to reinstall the 3/8 1" fine thread bolt that holds the front part of the universal flange to the output shaft. This allowed the flange to move so that the speedo drive gear moved slightly not allowing the drive and driven gear to mate up.. On this tranny the speedo drive gear is not pressed on to the main shaft it is held in place by the universal flange and bolt going into the end of the main shaft.
I had thought that the drive gear was damaged but it was not.

Funny...I Did not have any bolts left over and my work space is immaculate so maybe a mouse took my bolt ?
