I know this thing is a "mutt" - just trying to figure a few things out!

To start with, it is titled as a 1947, but has 1950 doors (one turn down handle, one push button, wing vents). It has a WB of 125", 8 lug wheels, what looks like a factory mount for a second gas tank under the bed (and the tank), the bed is just short of 8', and five window cab.

Any ideas? No serial tag....it is "around here somewhere", but not on the truck.....

I have one somewhat the same that I bought at an auction a couple years ago. I call it the FrankenTruck
Just hauled it to the Highway Patrol, CDL/VIN inspection station in Jeff City yesterday.
They were a big help and confirmed the research on it, that I had done
Title says 1951.
Body door jam s/n says 1949 cab.
s/n on motor says 1953 motor.
They also said that 1954 and before VIN's were not stamped on the vehicle anywhere and the title VIN went by the motor s/n.
Bottom line is, I have a truck with no title and a title with no truck.

In Missouri however, there is one loophole and that is to put Historic plates on it.

If you want a daily driver, you need to make sure the VIN numbers match somehow.
If not, historic tags are the way to go.
Some restrictions, but in 35 years, I have never been questioned.

North central Mo., you won't have any problems.

Well the thing was licensed as a daily driver in KC, so no problems there..... Just wondered what I have. I am thinking someone changed the hubs/brakes, etc, to a 1 ton with a short WB....

Where's the gas filler neck? On the '47 it would be on the lower part of the bed side. In '49 they moved it to the cab.

A '47 cab has a more substantial center brace at the rear of the cab preventing a later model gas tank from fitting behind the seat. This extra bracing supports the center rear cab mount below it. (Models from '49 forward, had two rear cab mounts of the shackle style.)
'47 will also lack a hole in the cab for in-cab gas tank filler neck.
A '47 3/4 ton chassis would have come with a 125 1/4" wheelbase, 8 lug split rims, and lever action shocks.
1 tons had a 137" wheelbase.

I am not an expert but I believe the wing vent on the doors came out in 1951. Just sayin......

I have BOTH gas tanks.....one behind the seat and one under the bed. Lever action shocks. 8 lugs...

Sounds like the cab is not a '47.
Is the windlace around the inside door opening held on by screws or does it slide into a track, spot welded to the cab?
Does the cab have a left side cowl vent door?
With the lever action shocks, your frame can be either a '47 or '48.

If both doors have vent wings, it sounds like you have one '51 door (turn down handle) and one '52-'55 1rst door (push button handle).
