Anyone have any Pics of a Big Bolt with a gooseneck hitch and a flat bed/stake bed? I would like to be able to haul my 7ton deckover gooseneck trailer with my 53 GMC 2 Ton, but I am wondering if the space between the frame and bed floor created by the wood in between is too much to work with my trailer?

Are you running a ball coupler or a kingpin on the trailer that needs a 5th. wheel? Most ball coupler tubes are adjustable vertically to accommodate different ball heights in the bed.

I've set the ball bellow the deck wood and had a hinged or removable hatch to cover it when not in use, sorry no pictures.

Yes the ball coupler tube is adjustable for bed heights, but I'm not sure if the jack/landing gear on my trailer has enough up/down movement in it to clear the bed floor when backing under the trailer and then drop in a bed hole all the way to frame height, where i'm assuming the ball mount would need to be located, like it is on my 99 Ford.

With a bit of creative engineering and a lot of fabricating you could, with some skill, make a frame mounted receiver for a turnover style ball. Then all you would have to do is flip open a trap door, insert the ball and hook up. You can modify the landing gear, to suit your needs too, as the ball would be above the bed when installed. Just a thought.

You probably won't find any photos of your specific truck. Go by your friendly local B&W Hitch dealer and take some measurements then crawl under your truck to see where the factory hitch would set and what brackets you would have to modify or build on your own. It can be done, just go for it and you can be the first to post photos of your build. Good luck.👍🏻

I'd U-bolt a couple of pieces of channel iron several inches long to the frame rails, join them with a piece of 1/2" or 5/8" plate, and mount the ball just below the level of the bed with a trap door to access it for coupling. It's simpler (and less expensive) than a flip ball and you will still have a flat floor in the bed when you're not pulling the trailer.

I pull a gooseneck with a one ton flatbed. In certain twists the gussets on the neck hit the posts in back.

I had the aluminum flatbed built in Pennsylvania and they mounted the ball rather low. I called the manufacturer of the trailer. They suggested I notch out the gussets. I have done that since the picture was taken and that fixed my problem. The higher you can mount the ball, the less clearance problems you will have. If you have removable sides, you won't have any problems.
