It is a big window deluxe truck. I drive by it fairly often, and today I noticed that in addition to the stainless around the windshield, back window and side windows, it has stainless molding on the fender opening edges. Was this part of the deluxe package for 59? I've never seen it on a 58. | | | | Joined: May 2005 Posts: 8,988 Sir Searchalot | Sir Searchalot Joined: May 2005 Posts: 8,988 | I don't know what fender opening edges means but...no. Wheel wells? No. | | | | Joined: Mar 2004 Posts: 6,189 'Bolter | 'Bolter Joined: Mar 2004 Posts: 6,189 | The top of the line cab is the Custom Cab, the Deluxe Cab is the "standard" issue cab. The big back window was available in both Custom and Deluxe Cabs. The only chrome on the front fender is the emblem and headlight trim ring if it's a Custom Cab. Interesting to say the least. Have you asked the guy if the trim is original?

May be worth leaving for uniqueness. Maybe it's a one of a kind factory GM traveling show truck used by Corporate Marketing.....or not. | | | | Joined: May 2014 Posts: 92 Shop Shark | Shop Shark Joined: May 2014 Posts: 92 | Can't get the guy to talk to me. Met his wife. Left my number. Maybe I'll catch him in the yard one day. Kind of sad in a way--his wife told me the grandad always kept it garaged. It's sitting out full-time now. Still has original bed wood. | | | | Joined: Oct 2015 Posts: 338 Shop Shark | Shop Shark Joined: Oct 2015 Posts: 338 | The wheel well trim is not a factory option.
I understand your frustration about him not wanting to talk to you but you're probably the 100th guy to stop and want to talk to the guy.
Try leaving a note on windshield explaining that you are NOT interested in buying it (if this is true) and that you'd just like to admire it with him. Share your story... maybe he'll share memories of his truck and his grandfather with you. Cool stuff. | | | | Joined: May 2005 Posts: 8,988 Sir Searchalot | Sir Searchalot Joined: May 2005 Posts: 8,988 | Edit: Removed my comment. Thought you wanted to buy it. Disregard. | | | | Joined: Apr 2015 Posts: 336 Shop Shark | Shop Shark Joined: Apr 2015 Posts: 336 | I agree with FootStomper's approach. I'm sure the owner has that sentimental attachment due to his grandfather.

I went through the whole story with his wife, emphasizing I had my own truck and was NOT trying to buy it. One day I will see him in the yard or out in the truck. I have a similar story about my granddad except his 58 got away, so I'm re-creating in his memory. Got to test drive her today and all went well. I will have her home on Tuesday next week! | | |
