Same as carb.,not enough bolts.4 on carb also.Just wasn't sure what goes on between block=head,if it could leak. Oil is clear. Runs great. Will have to check compression..Thanks,Dennis | | | | | Joined: Jan 2017 Posts: 36 Wrench Fetcher | | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Jan 2017 Posts: 36 | Best place to buy good valve cover gasket? Sure you're right..Thanks,Dennis | | | | | Joined: Mar 2010 Posts: 10,308 Renaissance Man | | Renaissance Man Joined: Mar 2010 Posts: 10,308 | I have had a fresh rebuilt 235 leak oil between the head and the block. To fix it, I warmed it up fully, then re-torqued the head bolts with a newer torque wrench. I believe that I had used the old torque wrench for a breaker bar 18 or 19 too many times. Carl

It's surprising how many cars I find with loose lug nuts after tire changes, wheel balancing, etc. from places like Firestone, Goodyear, and a bunch of the other national franchise places, usually after a wheel parts company with the vehicle! My guess is that many head gaskets get installed on a cold engine and never get this done.

But do you let get cool before re-torquing? Hope that makes sense..Not a new re-build 9,000 mi. since done. | | | | | Joined: Mar 2010 Posts: 10,308 Renaissance Man | | Renaissance Man Joined: Mar 2010 Posts: 10,308 | Torque the bolts with the engine at fully warmed up condition.
