So, we figured this possibly original axle is 4:57.
I'd like to drive it occasionally faster than 40 mph,
so - I've read changing just Ring & Pinion can be tricky
but I'm up for it. Swapping whole axle might be easier,
but the frame has that goofy angle, needing custom
brackets and welding. (no 220 or welder ... yet)
t h o u g h t s ? Looking for 3:23 kind of ratio.
I realize I'll also be doing bearings and shims and such.

Do a search on the HO52 and HO72 rear ends. There is a lot of info here. The only gear set available for the corporate axle is a 4:10 from the 68-72 C-20's with an auto trans. Probably not much luck finding a R&P, likely need to find a used assembly.

yeah ... it's a HO52.
Was afraid of that. Might just have to go
full axle swap. Shame, since this one in
good shape; just not happy with ratio.

You could leave the rear end and swap in an overdrive transmission.
