Georgia requires no title transfer only bill of sale after second owner. They will need to make a title for it I believe. I hav copies of the bill's of sale from the previous two owners aqnd now myself but need to tag it and cant without title in Texas, correct? Cavebull

The answer lies with the people who will make the decision. Not our opinions or experience. These folks/requirements can change day to day depending on interpretation, what county and how close to lunch. I hope you at least have a VIN tag riveted to the door sill. When you say Georgia does not require a title, I hope that is not true. That would be a very unwise policy. Around these parts, when someone says they will give you a bill of sale and not a title, it's a RED flag. I have heard all the stories and the Georgia story sounds RED.

Evidently it is not the only state. I personally never equate DMV with wise policy. Yeah, VIN tag on truck and all paperwork signatures and such match up. In Texas their are options, lost title application, builder title, etc. As you say, all different and paperwork I assume as well. Hoping there is a Texas based recommendation for someone who deals with this regularly as a business. There is a vintage Vette dealership in town and I regularly see different cars in the lot. I know they are not all from Corpus or the state. Maybe a stop in there... they may know how to grease the wheels of city hall. | | | | | Joined: Jan 2013 Posts: 1,084 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Jan 2013 Posts: 1,084 | Brett, I found another way to scratch the itch so didn't have to take this route, but during the lonestar roundup in Austin last year, there was a title bonding outfit that helps Texans get good titles for vehicles. Google "Auto Title Bonding" in Corpus and see what you find and give 'em a call for process. You need to do it before you get too much into the truck, as the cost is directly proportional to the value.

1. In Georia: No title is necessary, or is issued, for older than 1963. (nothing about second owner, etc.). 2. Seems that Texas will accept a Bill of Sale as proof of ownership, then they issue a real Title. Classic or Antique or .... Some of the categories may not require inspection. 3. Sounds like you have a normal transaction. No funny business is recommended.
My input: Usually the kind of bill of sale that DMV's want, needs. 1. Signature of seller 2. VIN 3. Date of sale 4. Address of seller and phone number 5. Your name as buyer 6. Description of vehicle 7. Possibly purchase price But who knows until you get up to the window at DMV.
I would not present or give them anything at first. Just ask all the questions. If you give them anything and it's no good for their purposes, the may keep it, or they may document a refusal. ALWAYS make copies of everything you have before handing to them. Lots of us have had good and bad experiences. Be careful what you say but be honest about what you do say. Get fully informed, straight from the horses mouth, before you actually apply. Personally I would not get ANYONE else involved, such as a, so called, "service" or outside provider of ANY KIND.
