Do the replacement brushes for gen and starter need to be arced to match commutator circumference? | | | | | Joined: Apr 2005 Posts: 7,440 Bolter | | Bolter Joined: Apr 2005 Posts: 7,440 | If I remember correctly the brushes will have a bevel on them that will let the brush lay fairly even on the commutator. I have never had to modify one.

The sintered copper starter brushes wear much more slowly, but they're already radiused to a pretty close fit to the commutator.
