Bolters, have a 59 Chevy 1/2 ton...when purchased had separate turn signals on a non original bed... Original owner had cobbled in trailer wiring harness as well.... So now. I'm wanting to convert to single tail light rear BUT....running lights workin fine, brake lights yes ... Now here's the But part, turn signals yes as long as there not joined to the brake wire for the single tail light, when they are joined no turn signal just brake, even the flasher stops‼️ Could you gentlemen pls point me a direction for a wiring tip without going back to the dual light setup...there is not an add-on turn signal on the column to try the tech tip listed..txs

here's the factory wiring for use with dual tail lights - you're maybe missing the "crossover" wires at bottom center, which weren't used with the separate turn lights, which is seen bottom of this page

Txs so much...will try to dig deeper....so being electrically declined it seemed with all the correct wires I could just bundle them together and it would just work!!! I will explore. txs again

To use the same lighting unit for both brake and turn signal you must have a switch designed for such.

Signal sw Mr Cletis? Front end uses running lights as blinkers so I assume that sw would work for signals rear too? Or is it brake light sw?

You say there is not an add-on turn signal on the column. Just what kind of switch do you have?

Sorry for not being clear...just "what I assume is a stock column and signal indicator " not "what I assume is an aftermarket unit as pictured in your tech tips

You should be able to wring it out then using the diagram Bill posted.
