Is there a torque specification for the bolts on the pressure plate on my 1/2 ton truck ???
Could not find one in the service manual.

Should be 3/8" grade 8 bolts. Somewhere between 38 and 45 ft/lbs would be a safe range. You should be able to 'feel' when they're right. Make sure to use grade 8 lock washer also.

A two-bolt-pair "retainer plate" (lock) that was thinner than most lock washers was used early (at least thriugh 1954) stovebolt flywheels, and the bolt had a thinner head than on a "standard" hex head bolt.

This thin-head bolt and star washer produces/results-in a thin profile.

Those two-hole lock-plates were used through at least 1954. After that, the same thin-headed bolt was continued, but it looks like a thin lock washer became the standard bolt-lock.

Zoegrant, are you referring to the bolts that attach the pressure plate TO the flywheel? If so, then mechanic58 is dead on.

The picture Tim shows appears to be what attaches the flywheel TO the crank. although the same design may very well have been used on the pressure plate also.

My flywheel (on a 51 3100) did have the two-hole lock plates on it that Tim referenced, which I will go back with. But we have used external tooth lock washers, and red Loctite, many times on these.

Just to clarify my previous post.
The torque spec. below:

Note: Correction - Torque Specifications August 1950

Read Correction (Scroll down)

The above spec. is for the one bolt Illustration, Group # 4.405 that holds the front yoke to the main transmission output shaft. (click picture to zoom)

The four U-Joint bolts or cap screws Illustration, Group # 5.586 are tightened to 25-30 ft.lbs.Torque
Read number 3. under Assembly

In summary:
The four U-Joint bolts or cap screws, 25-30 ft.lbs. Torque
The one U-Joint front yoke attaching bolt, 15-20 Ft. Lbs. Torque

Don't forget the two U-Joint bolts/cap screws lock plates.
