I also see four threaded holes on the top of the grille support where the hood latch is mounted. Two of these hole are located on the inside corners of the front fenders. I have not researched why some would include the holddown bracket. My 62 w/283 came without. A 66 w/250 came with.

There are two sheetmetal pieces that attach to the grille support and the radiator support on either side of the hood latch. I dont have a good sense of where the other 2 fall out. In 1963 they changed the way the radiator mounted. They removed the side mounts and went to a couple of U-shaped brackets on the bottom with rubber bushings and a single mount on top. | | |
