I go to car shows ,,I put my 71 truck in car shows once in awhile and it sits all day in the hot sun.. or for a all day drive to small away towns and the truck sits out in the sun
I was wondering if they make a wiper blade of another substance rather than rubber ones that I could use so not ruin the wiper blades that are directly in line of the sun beating down on them.. I do not drive in the rain ,unless it is unexpected.
Don't want to rely on remembering to put the rubber ones back on and scratch the window..
Any suggestions on this? LD

I'll just say: don't sweat the small stuff. You don't have more sun than we do. I don't see a problem. Change them every year before the rainy season if needed. Chevy's of the 40's blades are $3-$6 each. The upholstery and all the other rubber is getting blasted also. The paint is fading.

I sort of have that comin,, small stuff is exactly what it is ,,I guess being retired and being winter here with lots of snow this year and lots of ice and lots of time in the house getting cabin fever will make one look for something to do with our trucks and car toys.. appreciate your honest opinion by the way as a reply is better than no reply..

You never get your toys to a point there is no more to do to them.do ya? I have the enough now and do not plan on any more .. as to my solar problem ,,I put a cover on my dash pad and I do think I will cover my wipers with whiskey decantor velvet bags thx to Kevinski's idea .. that will make for some converstation at any car show..

I have seen this done on other trucks at shows like you said ,,just take whole wiper assembly off and put on a pretty chrome nut, infact a friend of mine last I knew was looking for somethng to put over his wiper threads on his 51 Chevy Truck ,
Once we each drove our trucks to a show in Seaside Oregon some 50 miles from our homes in Oregon where I used to live and of course on the way back it rained,, I had wipers he had some sort of window rain clearing liquid and he said it didnt do the job very well ,,lot of wind too..so beings I live here in Idaho where the sun shines kinda as much as Arizona (just had to throw that in bartamos,:) I will maybe try some of that rain stuff out .. what a bunch of great guys you are ..sorta like swapping tales at a car show..

From what I've found and heard on different forums, this is the best stuff for saving a lot of outdoor materials. Engineered by NASA to protect things in space that can't be reached for maintenance. I think you can even get it at Wallyworld, but I order it online. https://www.amazon.com/303-30313-CSR-Protectant-Trigger-Sprayer/dp/B00KN0UOEE

(Teflon) sleeve on the blades to protect them in the package. Buy a set and cut the blade protector to length to fit your blades. Just remember to take them off before using the wipers. Tim
