I plan on attending the Homecoming and if I can't get anything to haul there, I'll probably drive a ricer for fuel milage.
Two, 1-Tons are for sale in the midwest right now.
Both can be at my house in just a one day drive.

Help pay for fuel and I'll haul/bring one to Homecoming.

Please give me a reason not to drive a ricer!

I guess I could load up a 51 3600 I have had a couple years.
It has not been started in well over 15 years.
It would be nice for it to have a one-way ticket only.

Do you have any plans to be in the Evansville area in the near future. I need a 200 lb bell picked up.

200 pounds will hardly get the truck to ride smoother.
And yes, I'll be cruising the I-64 corridor to the Homecoming.
Evansville is just a short hop off the interstate.
PM me on the details.

John and Doug,
What steering column?
And where will it be dropped off at.
Guess I could put on the passenger side in front of the blow up doll that rides with me.

Cosmo
I'll be typing a PM to you next.

Hot Darn, Looks like I'll get to drive a truck!

As I get older and enjoy every birthday, My attention span gets shorter.
Please refresh me on the steering column and where it will be delivered to.
It may go good with this video.

Oh, and Tim, I found Gloria and she will be riding shotgun again.
Hope Sylvia is making you proud also, riding shotgun down under.
Be safe, your forecast say 24C/103F tomorrow.
Drink plenty of fluids and lay on the beach another day, in the rain.

Don -- Steering column out of the '56 we dissected last year. If you can, it needs to go West and possibly end up at the Reunion for pickup, if the recipient makes it. Otherwise, he may make arrangements to collect it earlier.

Thanks

Another Stovebolt torch passed across the nation.
We can do it!
Looks like I'll have a 51 we can do a first start on, after about a 18 year sleep.

Just learned the 51 may have a one way ticket east.
The LDT (long Distance Team) will be entered in the first start competition.
Will we win by forfeit?

Don, I know it must be illegal for a man with such a fine list of old iron to drive a rice burner! Drive that old 54 Pontiac straight 8! I want to see that thing! ANYTHING but the rice burner! We will enjoy seeing you regardless but we want you riding in old heavy iron!

If I didn't have a load lined up, I would consider driving the Pontiac.
Just checked and I do not have any pictures in photobucket of it.
The straight eight runs good and gets better milage than I thought it would. Maybe 18 MPG.
Back seat is also a good place to crash after a hard day/night.
Don't ask me how I know though.

Well
Things are changing and I'm not sure what I'll have on the trailer.
First start 51 Frankentruck.
65 GMC one ton that will be street legal.
Or
The one at this auction next weekend.
http://enyeartauctionrealty.com/auctioneer.php?i=14790
It also could be a first start engine.

We will see what plays out.

4-1/2 weeks till the main event and still don't know what to bring.
Pulled pork for a meal is on the list.
As for a truck, I have some choices.

The 49 at the auction last Saturday did not work out and I am glad it stayed where it should.
https://www.stovebolt.com/ubbthread...uction_update/pictures..html#Post1207695

The 65 1-Ton flat bed is street legal now, but needs a tune up bad.
http://s893.photobucket.com/user/2-Ton/library/1965%20one%20Ton

The 49, 51, 53 Frankentruck would be a good first start item.
http://s893.photobucket.com/user/2-Ton/library/1951%20no%20bed

My thoughts are to pull the motor and tranny out of the Frankentruck and mount it on the bed of the 65.
The 235 could be entered as the LDT first start entry.
The 65 would get a tune up also.

I can't get both trucks on the trailer.
So, what say the higher ups, on what I should bring.
Would it help me with any charges I may be facing when I arrive?

That is on the back of my mind but,
I will be needing some dry and secure storage space for the trip. The extended cab works good for that and I can also fill the 65 cab up with stuff.
I'm leaning toward yanking the 235 Frankentruck motor and load it on the back of the 65 for a first start.
Then hauling the 65.
One way ticket for them would also help out.

You had your chance, PM me if you may still want it.
Otherwise, its getting parted out.

Jim
I have considered that idea and I may just try something like that.
If I can get them both on the trailer. There will be a bunch of night driving and I like to have good working lights for that.
I'll do some more thinking and measuring.

Don, Keep a spot open for the 27 on the trip back. I have had a bunch of callers but its still available. I will be there Saturday and maybe have a poster board in the back of my 50 offering it for sale. You can't miss my truck, off yellow/beige with Dead Horse Cycle Salvage on the doors. Hope to get to meet some of you guys. Phil

Phil
Get a buyer for the 65 one ton I'm bringing and a buyer for the 27 out my way and we can work something out.
Already did some measuring and two vehicles will not fit on a 20 foot flatbed trailer.
Where do you have the 27 listed at.
I'll check the trucks for sale next.

Edit: Sorry Phil I forgot about your ad in the trucks for sale.
Seeing that it is in parts. We may be able to get most of it on the trailer and the 65 flatbed.
If you have a buyer along I-64 we may be able to work something out, even if it is just to drop off some parts.

Don

I have a guy very interested but he is in Florida and has yet to get back with me. I was hoping you would add it to your stable. It is going to need a big truck/trailer for sure. I only live about 30 mins. from the Homecoming so I hope an interested party might take a drive out to my place and look it over. This will be my first trip to the meet and I can't wait. Looks like a lot of fun.

Thanks for thinking about me Phil, but I have way more projects than I'll finish in my lifetime.
In fact, I'm trying to downsize.

OK, I'm to the point of loading a truck up this week and need advice.

The 65 GMC one ton that is street legal, almost? (all the lights don't work, but other than that, I can drive it during the daytime)
http://s893.photobucket.com/user/2-Ton/library/1965%20one%20Ton

Or the 49 Franken Truck, to be parted out?
And the LDT entry in the first start competition.
http://s893.photobucket.com/user/2-Ton/library/1951%20no%20bed

Somebody sway me one way or the other Please.
One way ticket for either one, would sway me.

Sorry for the Plug.

Loaded the FrankenTruck today.
Tomorrow will be cleaning out the old red tow vehicle, checking it's vitals and inventorying the tools to bring.
Removing 4 of the 8 bald tires off the trailer and tie down two for spares.
And if I am not too tired, slice up shoe leather to deep fry sometime during the event.
Of course with dirty/greasy hands, to add flavor.

OOP'S, almost forgot, check and see if I can get some fresh Kracklin's for the event.
