I tried to bag (and label) all my parts, but after my move from NY to NC, I am still looking for all the boxes with those labelled bags. I needed a few hundred bags. Use permanent ink markers - clearly/completely label the bags with indelible ink markers.

If you find the info you need on bagging a 47-55 1/2 ton truck with original frame, and you undertake the project, please post your progress report here.
It would be interesting to see the "end-product" and a driveability report. I do not recall anyone posting the outcome of such a project.

I'm using a front axle with an additional 2" of drop and custom springs with 2" of lift to get back to normal, this also helps make room for the air helper springs. That's probably because the vast majority of those projects never make it to the road. They either get scrapped, or wrecked pretty soon because the handling is so lousy. Trailer them to the car show and haul 'em home again so they don't become a road hazard for the rest of the driving public. Jerry

But, if someone has successfully bagged and tagged (registered with inspection) an A-D truck, that would be interesting to see. | | | | Joined: Feb 2004 Posts: 28,674 Kettle Custodian (pot stirrer) | Kettle Custodian (pot stirrer) Joined: Feb 2004 Posts: 28,674 | I saw a relatively late model Dodge Charger last Friday, sitting in a parking lot with the rocker panels literally touching the ground. It also had a "For Sale" sign on it. I wonder why? Jerry

Definitely not anything related to the air bags keeping me from driving it more often, it's the body that's the problem, not even close to finished. | | | | Joined: Feb 2004 Posts: 28,674 Kettle Custodian (pot stirrer) | Kettle Custodian (pot stirrer) Joined: Feb 2004 Posts: 28,674 | Good-looking setup, Grigg! Just one problem- - - -how are you gonna "lay frame" like the lowriders do, with the frame ABOVE the axle?! !! ! ! !
LOL! Jerry

I was hoping for nothing lower than stock. Isn't stock cool too? | | | | Joined: Sep 2001 Posts: 29,262 Bubba - Curmudgeon | Bubba - Curmudgeon Joined: Sep 2001 Posts: 29,262 | Cool enough for me.
Even bagged low-riders can look cool.
Some readers envisioned a bagged, adjustable-height, low-rider, using the original frame (original frame, like yours, as requested in first post). | | | | Joined: Jan 2017 Posts: 22 Wrench Fetcher | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Jan 2017 Posts: 22 | everyone is entitled to their opinion I have had several air ride equipped daily drivers. As for the reason why?? its adjustable! making all driving conditions possible.stock height AD trucks handle horrible in every way, body roll in turns and look goofy as [censored] with the fenderwell gaps even with 16" wheels. To each their own, some folks like bone stock trucks.I prefer mine a bit lower than that.I could care less about laying frame

"That's probably because the vast majority of those projects never make it to the road." 10,000+ daily driven air-ride miles so far..... I'll be honest it's not been without its problems, actually caused by a crappy installation of both front and rear set-ups in the first place.....(not by me I might add)

Each to their own and all that... I run a 4 way air ride on my '50. It's not a pan dragger but can get down pretty low ,this is it at ride height. The road conditions here are pretty rural at best but the air-ride does make things a bit more tolerable,I'd have NO teeth left if it was still on leaf springs..... 1950 Chevy Advance Design 3100 in ScotlandIn the Stovebolt GalleryMore pix on Flickr. No Sir,it's a Borg Warner 'metric' unit from a Gen-3 Firebird. It was a swap meet special but thankfully the I.D. tag was still attached to one of the diff cover bolts. It's 3.27:1 ratio with Posi and as you've probably seen, disc brakes. If you saw my Flickr pics I have also changed out the bespoke diagonal 4 link to a parallel one from Dannys Original Customs in Ca. The diagonal link wasn't very well done and caused some serious pucker moments while driving at speed! Strangely the axle with the cast iron calipers have one leading and one trailing so there has been some interference issues with the parking brake arm on the left hand side. With the new four link the axle mounts foul the actuator arm for the left hand parking brake which is the trailing one. Although i've noticed the ones with alloy calipers both lead,so will try and find some to convert it when funds and time allow. Frankly it's a little tired too (a bit clunky when selecting gears) but a rebuild kit for this particular one seems to be also the most expensive and elusive,at least here in Blighty. 1950 Chevy Advance Design 3100 in ScotlandIn the Stovebolt GalleryMore pix on Flickr.
