Hello, I have a 1941 long bed and have decided to convert it to a short bed. I'm sure someone out there has done this. My question is of coarse how much to cut out of the frame and where. I have already made my long bed sides. Where and how much should I cut those? Sorry if this has been covered before. Thanks.

Should be easy enough to find here, https://www.gmheritagecenter.com/do...hevrolet-Trucks/1941-Chevrolet-Truck.pdf Just scroll down to wheelbase and go from there.

Besides the length, you also have the springs, which are 3/4 ton or larger. It will ride harsh with out some modification to the spring rates.

Thanks Joe H. I already built a parallel 4 bar rear suspension with a panhard rod and coilovers. So that won't be an issue. I watched the "Gears" episode where Stacy converted a 68-72 chevy truck but figured a '41 would be different. He took a total of 20 inches out of the frame. 12 inches underneath the cab and 8 off the back of the frame rails. If anyone else has any tips or other info I'd really appreciate it. Thanks.

Trade me your long sides for my 2 brand new short sides. It should be near 8 inches off the front. 87" to 79" and the center of axle to rear of frame I beleive is 36" on both short and long. I do have 2 brand new short sides. And I need long sides for my 46 3/4 ton. PM me if any interest. My other option is to add 8" to mine with another pillar added.

Can't speak for a 41 but on some long to short conversions the frame has to be shortened BOTH in front of the axle and in the rear mate up to the bed correctly.

This is for an AD truck, but applies to any conversion with modifications.
