John sent me two pictures from his cell phone. So, that's all that's loaded for now. He said Amtrak Joe is taking a bunch of pictures and he will try to get him to load them here, too. This is a picture of them getting ndkid's engine started for the first time. John said they still have some work to do but it fired up and Chis was happy. We'll get info on these pictures once things quiet down on the field. They all sound like they are busy about and it's a pretty day up there.

Just got up from an 'honor nap', I was honoring the brave souls who were up and talking ODSS Business, Robert's Rules Of Order, the importance of having a truck with a soul, etc. until 0230!
Highlights:
The Welcoming faces of the camp enclosure constructed by Camp Commander Billy Marlow and Vice Camp Commander Artie Day. Every year the expectation of the camp is exceeded...ample firewood for a bonfire at night, excellent meals prepared by Billy Marlow with contributions from Hambone (pasta), John Milliman (special beans), Mary's meatballs, whose fantastic chili was that?, Doc Roache's Shine, Alec's craft brewery beer,etc.

Speed test on way home trying to keep pace with Sweet. All was well with two green trucks passing from the left lane on RT 66. Turned up the music so I would not hear the 283 scream. Weather was great. Lots to see and do. Epic yard saling odyssey with Grigg in his 1 ton was 1 highlite. The other was thanks to BNJO JAK for fire side picking session. Thanks for stopping by Jack!

I think this was my most favorite Tri-State Antique Truck Show to date. Beautiful weather, lots of trucks, new Bolters and veterans but the best of all was having Jack Van Orden come play for us. And this was after he had just finished playing in a gig down the road. Very special.
I had a great time the whole weekend and am already looking forward to next year. Grigg and I had extra car experiences both on the way WW Motors WW Motors and on the way home Red's Body Shop & Auto Sales, which was like a mini junk yard tour. No web site for him that I could find. Plus many yard / antique store visits. There was beer left undrunk, however, you guys have got to do a little better next time. And Linda had a great time meeting everyone. !! Thanks for making her welcome.

One of the highlights for me, and I only caught a glimpse of it, was seeing Jeff take Dempsey for a spin for the 1st time since he was 16. I'm pretty sure most everyone, except for Mike naturally, wasn't paying much attention at that point, and it all happened in a quick, low-key fashion, but it was pretty neat.
David/DJ and Chris, after coming back from scoring a "92" on the road test after having adjusted valves and a couple of other things. Driving that truck myself was cool, too. What a fun truck!
Man, who wants to go to a truck show where you just sit around and look at parked trucks all weekend ?

From laughing all the night before.
I think that best sums up the weekend.
This year the Brotherhood of the ODSS did something different at the Tri-State show, instead of putting out trucks in line in the same field like always, we did what we do best. We wrench.
It wasn't a planned maneuver, it just happened. When we all got up, had breakfast, and Chris showed up. Rather than pack all our tools and send everything over to the show field we did it at camp. This started to attract visitors, many watched, asked great questions, and some even rolled up their sleeves and dived right in.
After that, others were driving their trucks over for a quick look, adjustment, and many left smiling because their truck ran a little better.
Before I knew it, it was 2 in the afternoon.
Perhaps some of the show organizers were not pleased with our actions but I think once everyone realized what was happening, it got them thinking. At our campfire Saturday night, some great ideas were kicked around hopefully we can make some cool things happen.
I had a blast. As Billy said, definitely the best show yet. I got to spend time with my Brothers and meet new ones too. Mike's dad I think had a best assessment of the weekend. Many people over a vast diversities of backgrounds coming together and making great things happen.
Glad I can do my part!!

Dave was re-lining hoods like he was on an assembly line. Cosmo was wrenching away. Many others were wrenching, watching, or talking trucks. (Those two were on either side of Chris' truck that woke up from a lengthy nap.)
It's always a treat to see the look on someone's face the first time an engine comes back after a long journey. I peeked up at Chris and he was ear-to-ear!

Doc and myself were sitting against Mike's trailer, just looking out at all of the happenings and Doc mentioned to me to just look around. All of these folks from many a different background's, city's and states, just all getting along, having a laugh at one and another's expense, and just rolling with it. Sharing beverages and some fine food, oh and Jacks music! Jumping into any truck and taking off, no questions asked.
Mike, your dad is a fantastic man, and I loved his company/conversations! Thanks for bringing him along!
