I've a '53 2.5Ton flatbed truck. I have the original unit but have found it impossible to find a rebuild kit. I've seen posts dating back to '07-'10 of rebuilds but nothing since. Are kits available or where should I go to purchase a rebuilt unit? I've found NAPA & Advance Auto have a hydrovac for up to a 3900 & base models. Best I can research, my 2.5 ton is in the 6000 series. Are they inter-changeable? Thank you for your help fellas. | | | | Joined: Dec 2015 Posts: 2,061 Big Bolt Forum Moderator | Big Bolt Forum Moderator Joined: Dec 2015 Posts: 2,061 | I saved this from another post a while ago, you might give them a shout out.

Series II are the ones that are impossible to find. | | | | Joined: Mar 2004 Posts: 6,189 'Bolter | 'Bolter Joined: Mar 2004 Posts: 6,189 | If you have a 6000 Series truck than it's a 2-ton (4000 Series is 1.5-ton)...the 2.5-ton trucks didn't come out until 1956... White Post Restoration in Virginia may do them, I know they do wheel and master cylinder sleeving/rebuilds. Look them up and give them a call. I am trying to find where I left my ID tag to give them or send photo's with measurements to retrofit that way. They seemed confident they would be able to rebuild what I have and friendly. Once I get the tag/measurements, I'll be able to get a cost of the rebuild. | | | | Joined: Nov 2016 Posts: 25 'Bolter | 'Bolter Joined: Nov 2016 Posts: 25 | Thank you 69Cuda. I found my ID tag (374000) and they will rebuild my original core. $205 and then shipping both ways from/to KY. Thank you for the referral. | | | | Joined: Sep 2001 Posts: 29,262 Bubba - Curmudgeon | Bubba - Curmudgeon Joined: Sep 2001 Posts: 29,262 | Thanks for posting the info, Snellen
That a very good price. I have a spare for my 54/55 350 GMC and will probably send it in now for a rebuild. Better safe than sorry. | | | | Joined: Apr 2016 Posts: 14 New Guy | New Guy Joined: Apr 2016 Posts: 14 | Hi all, Surprising. My Napa was able to source my Hydrovac. They did not sell the rebuild kit, but they took mine and sent it off to be rebuilt someplace ion KC. My Napa store, they even mentioned mine they had never seen before, but had sent others of "the larger size" off. My truck is a '48 2-ton 6400 series, and that conversation was yesterday.

I don't remember the cost, and there is a core charge. It was cheaper for me, to pay the core charge, than ship the core back. Very professional, great service! Good luck! | | |
