Hi I am working on my 1961 4x4 and the 235 that is currently in it leaks antifreeze into the oil real bad plus I just wont a little more powerit has a 4 speed manual that I plan to keep in it. What I am wondering about is what motor mounts will work for my application, also what can I do to get decent milage out of it when it is to the driveing stage of the project I am unsure of the rearend. Thanks Any help will be appreciated

Motor mounts are specific to the type of motor. What type of motor are you thinking of putting in your truck?

Since it was available with both the 235 and a small block Chevy V-8 that would seem the most likely option.

I am looking to use a chevy 350 out of a 70s chevy 4x4 were can I start looking for mounts none of the boneyards have any thanks

I'm going to bet that your 235 uses a single front mount with two bolts. thats how mine is. The 350 that's going into mine has side mounts, so I'm planning on firing up the welder and making my own custom mounts. I have seen, however, conversion mounts to adapt a 350 into just about anything. Might check out Summit Racing for something like this Motor mounts . Somebody else might also have some ideas on where to get mounts.

Also, plan on finding a different bellhousing. One from most V-8s should work. I found one on ebay for $20.

Gas milage? I've come to accept the fact that these trucks are so stinking heavy, gas milage is just going to be bad. I'm doing good if i can get 9. 8 isn't too bad. I've seen down to 7 before.

You have any pics of your truck? Is it 1/2 ton or 3/4 ton?
