Hi All,
trying to put my 50 1/2 ton together. The support at the front of the hood that holds the latching pin, was it zinc plated from the factory? It looks like the hood hinges were also zinc or galvanized from the factory? I have not been able to find any pictures of original trucks that show what the factory finish was. I am pretty sure they were not painted. Any help?
thanks.

They were plated. Here's some pictures of my '52 GMC with original finish hood hardware. hood latch pin , latch plate , hood hinge I believe they were cadmium not zinc or galvanize finish, but you may have trouble finding a plating company to do cad plating because of the EPA regulations. You will notice that the springs on the hood hinges have a black oxide finish.

Wow, your truck is fantastic! Yes, I see that the finish is not as bright as zinc, a little dull in color. I wonder if I can get a dull zinc finish instead of bright.
