Thinking of biting the bullet and having a shop do the body work and paint on my truck this winter while I finish up the chassis and mechanicals. There's a couple spots a bit out of my ability; a repair above the windshield and the rear of the cab, plus one of the front fenders. No available patch panels for the spots. Can anyone recommend a Maryland-area shop for the metal repairs and basic paint? Not looking for show quality, it'll be used as a truck when I'm done, but something professional and presentable. There are plenty of places around here, but the reviews are few and far between. Hoping for some positive personal experiences...

Good luck, John! The guy I used is pretty much retired and not taking on any new work. Down here, the good paint and body men are either retiring or won't do restoration work because they are too busy going after insurance work ($$$$$).

When you *do* find someone, just be careful about saying the "not looking for show quality" and the "I'm not in a rush ..." bit ... I tried that one time and it took 4 years to get the stuff back and when I got it, the stuff looked like he painted it out behind the barn with a paint brush on a rainy day ... some parts looked nice ... in places ... frown

Sir, Jerry McDonald, Winchester, VA. It won't be cheap, though. $50K and 48 months into it, he has completed front clip, frame, body, and begun the final paint (firewall done) of my 1952 Chevrolet 3100 Suburban. I intend to stay on course at $800/month. The Virginian does excellent work. Yes, it has been, and continues to be a positive personal experience. Thanks John. V/r, Nick
