First I want everyone to know I tried to search the archives for this info. I've got several TF trucks and have had no success finding the name or code for the interior color used on the metal components. I am referring to the gold/bronze/champagne whatever color that seems to be so prevalent among trucks of these years. Any help? Even a color name would be helpful.

I put in the original post that the color is for a task force truck. Specifically I am inquiring for a 59 i ton I am currently working on. I've got many other TF trucks. It's a disease.
We got a reprieve from the rain today, tomorrow is supposed to be biblical. Old guy next door is building a big boat, hmmm.

the 2-tone TF interior colors I've seen are called granite gray and marble gray - unknown on the goldish one that seems to be in some later ones - haven't seen that anyone has come up w/ any codes for any of the TF interior colors

The color name for 1959 is called "Comanche Gold Metallic" and its DUCO code is 92863. The trim color for this color scheme is "Charcoal Gray" and its DUCO code is 73605. While the DUCO code for Comanche Gold Metallic does not come up, the Charcoal Gray code does.

Jim Carter has a local paint shop mix up the Comanche Gold Metallic substitute color that he sells as "Silver-beige" and it is a good match to the original color. I used his paint for the silver-beige color in my cab. Jim Carter's part number for the correct silver-beige [Comanche Gold Metallic] color for a 1959 TF truck interior is: PT-150. The Charcoal Gray was mixed up by our local paint shop using the above original code.

Woog linked a site in another thread that has the chip sheets I've seen for for 58-9 [no mention of the Comanche Gold] - and the one that lists the granite and marble gray - wonder if just certain plants used that gold color? :confused:

Jim, thanks for the information. I checked out your web site and that gold looks like the right color. I'm going to reassemble the deluxe heater this weekend and reinstall the hydrovac after having it rebuilt locally. Wish me luck!

I think if you look closely at the chip sets you posted the first one is for 1958 and the second one is for 1957. The one I referenced is for 1959. Each year the TF trucks listed different interior colors for 1956, 1957, 1958 and 1959. Take a second look and you will see what I am talking about.

Notice the bulletin numbers at the top of each page and the year indicated in the text just above the DUCO lacquer color formula info.

I have copies for 1956, 57, 58 and 59. I can post each of them if you would like to save them. Or, send me a private e-mail if you want, and I will e-mail them to you as well. If you want them, just let me know.

Thanks very much Jim. Those chips will be handy later on. I took a closer look at how things were painted in the interior this weekend. The top of the dash is textured black and the dash face is gold. The steering column and column drop are charcoal or something similiar. From memory, I believe everything else was gold. Nice to look at original trucks. Most of the stuff I see is redone/modified and is no longer a information resource.

The top of the dash should be Charcoal Gray and you can add flattener to just the top part not the face of the top just before the bend for the stock look. The black textured paint is not a factory option for our year but was a popular aftermarket treatment applied to many of these old truck dashes to reduce glare from what I have been told.

Jim Forbes of Sierra Vista Arizona really helped me get my truck painted with the correct original colors. I also confirmed my plans against the materials Bob Alder Bob Alder owner of Alder\'s Antique Autos, Inc. of Stephentown, NY. sent to me in his restoration packet.

Here is the scheme -

The following item should all be painted Charcoal Gray:

Steering column
Steering wheel column bracket
Steering wheel
Dash top
Dash face above the role
Emergency brake handle
Emergency brake handle bracket
Step well floors
Cab floor
Clutch pedal
Brake pedal
Accelerator pedal
Bench seat frame and purch
Tire jack mount

The item below should be painted in the gold color:

Interior doors
Kick panels
Dash front
Vent covers
Door jams

If you need close-ups of any of these areas, let me know and I will send you a picture of them.

Oops, well I've repainted some stuff wrong then. The parking brake handle assembly is now gloss black. What was left of the original paint looked like black. The tranny cover is black as well. When I take some good photos I'll email them to you. MOst of this truck seems to be very old and I assume original although you've pointed out that doesn't apply to the dash top.

I am sure your truck will be looking great! The main thing is just enjoy it. I can't wait to see your pictures.

Oh you can wait, believe me you can wait a long time. I'm not sure if I already stated this, but the 59 is a working truck. Nothing pretty here folks. The work I've done is done well but there are plenty of untouched areas that are umimproved since the assembly line workers built the truck. I'll email the pics to you. Just drove the truck home towing a trailer with car. Gawd am I tired, old trucks require work to drive.
