Just obtained a car that uses Cragar wheels. Also found the Lug nuts aren't tapered. So how do you put the wheel on the car, without it moving all over the place.

I think the oval washers are only needed if you have a uni-lug pattern wheel (oval holes that fit more than one lug pattern). The oval washers butt up against a little nub on the wheel to keep everything from rotating and backing out. If the wheel only fits one lug pattern, it should have round holes, and would use round washers (I'm 99% sure the Draglites for my Mustang have round washers). I typed all that assuming you're referring to the classic Cragar S/S style wheel. A pic would help a lot. | | | | | Joined: Feb 2004 Posts: 29,774 Kettle Custodian (pot stirrer) | | Kettle Custodian (pot stirrer) Joined: Feb 2004 Posts: 29,774 | The shank on the shouldered lug bolts centers the wheel over the studs. The flat washer on the lug does the job of holding the wheel to the drum. Uni-lug wheels fit two different lug patterns, and the shank of the lug nut simply centers on the inside or outside of the slot in the wheel. Running Uni-lug wheels is the height of stupidity. Get a wheel that fits. Jerry

These require the Cragar oval-shaped washers; you rotate them either direction depending on your lug pattern.
Don't try to run them without the long washers; I've seen many Cragars ruined by cheapskates trying to get away with just using round washers. It eats away the mounting holes.
I get my lug nuts and washers on Ebay from a seller called mrlugnut
