Got a '57 235 was in a 48 2 ton. Finally got it to start. No oil pressure. Spun the oil pump with a drill. Oil runs out the back somewhere. Engine is out, got a newer oil pan which I am looking to get restored somewhere. Farm it out for lack of tools, patience, and ability. Is the rear oil seal that hard to replace? What else would cause that?

Check the "freeze" plug at the back of the camshaft bore. If it has come loose for some reason the oil pressure will vent into the bellhousing. A bad rear main bearing seal WILL NOT affect the oil pressure. It will just cause a puddle.

Thanks! I'll check that in the morning. With the engine out it's easier to check

The oil pressure gauge line connects at the back corner on the side of the block. Make sure the line is not broken or missing.
