Have a 61 c10 seats from a 02 Chev p / u original steering column and wheel not leaving much room for the budweiser belly lol any suggestions for a tilt steering column
I would avoid the overseas reproduction tilt columns that are copies of the more expensive Flaming River column or the Ididit columns. The Flaming River and Ididit were outside my budget.
My solution is to move my column closer to the dash. My method is to cut the shaft rod and then have the end of the rid milled with 2 flat sides to form a common DD end. Then I will use a $35 steering column universal joint to join the 2 ends together.
My BLOG shows the progress I've made (almost done) and it also shows how I'm combining this with a PS upgrade.
I cut 4.5" out of the middle of the outer steering column tube to shorten that too.
Although I don't have tilt steering, I don't mind. The steering wheel is a few inches closer to the dash and in a more comfortable driving position. It does make the steering wheel about 1" lower.
