What is the Engine Serial Number that is pressed into the block to the rear of the distributor - post it here?
If it is a 1959 car 235, it had hydraulic lifters from the factory (but mechanical lifters might have been "swapped in" later).

Here is on-line specification information about 1959 truck engines. Here is an on-line 1959 car specification manual - it is a very large .pdf file. By the way, all 235 engines had "pressurized oiling". The better description would be "high-pressure" oiling (as in all 1954 and later 235 engines).
