I have two 46 Burbs, both clam shell rear doors. One will be a street rod and the other a rat rod. I live in Ohio.

Just picked up a 1950 Suburban School bus that was lovingly stored in a field and used as an apple ripening storage container. Going to get it going ASAP (at this rate 10 years)

Sounds great! Here is some pics of mine. I also bought a 58 Airstream last week! Im starting to shine it up and looks great and really looking forward to working on the floor, frame, interior, etc.

WOW! You did a Great job! Looks great! I always wanted an airstream. It's cool that it's the same year as your Apache. My Bus has a welded on hitch that I "may" pull a camper with someday but that will all depend on how stable I get the old girl.

Thanks! Yeah it took me about 2 years to find a 58 and found it within driving distance so I think it was meant to be? I didn't pull it with the Apache, though but with my Chevy truck, from NC to VA.

That is great that yours has a hitch so at some point it pulled something, right? I think I have to custom make a hitch for mine but still doing some research.

I had one made locally for my 59. They put a "tank bar" on it for added capacity which went right under where a spare tire would have originally gone. It worked great though and towed a lot of stuff over the years. (biggest load shown in the link, and not recommended though)

It counts. But, that's a babe in diapers (or, a teen ager) on this 1973-and-earlier GM truck website. Keep it in good shape and in good running condition until it is an antique (at least 25 years old).

I just joined these pages... got a 51 burb that I am restoring. Just a frame, front clip off a Firebird for the disc brakes, Camaro rear axle, and a rusty body. Looking at what to do next... hence some of the reasons I am here. Got a bunch of original parts I will probably sell one day once I know that they are worth. Meanwhile this winter it is getting a boxed in frame (me welding to stay warm in Michigan. lol) and a small block with trimmings I hope. Other than that...

You are not restoring that truck. You are rebuilding it with modern components. Posts about it should be in the Hi-Po shop.

Depends on what years you are talking about.

Pre 1955 there appears to quite a few. For the 2nd Series ones from 1955 to 1959, very few. And way more Chevy's than GMC.

Lots of information on this site on pre 1955 Suburbans but not much on 55-59 units.

I've got a sweet '54 CarryAll with luggage roof rack and outside visor that is partially restored. It has a small block V8.
