Hello, I was cleaning up my 54 and found rust holes above the rear window. These weren't there when I bought the truck 6 years ago. ( btw, that was only 10 miles away in farm country) At the same time I noticed condensation (water droplets) forming on the inside of the bare metal roof. Why is this happening now, and not for the last fifty years? Now, what do I do about it? Insulation, door seals, move to Southern Cal.? (ugh!) Oh, I should mention I am about a good bow shot from the Pacific ocean.

10 miles can make a lot of difference, especially when you prolly have more salt in the air from the ocean breezes - the condensation happens because of temperature and humidity differences night and day - in the sun the air in the cab warms and gets as humid as the ambient, cools at night and the warm air inside dumps it's moisture where it meets the suddenly colder metal, droplets run down behind the double panels and collects in the pocket above the window - try keeping it outta the sun when parked during the day and leaving the windows open

"rust free California" ain't all it's cracked up to be, depending on which way the breezes blow!

Get some big dessicant bags to keep in the truck when not driving it. Corvette Central might still sell them - when they loose effectiveness, you toss them in the oven to dry out.

GMC, i don't know where I could get those dessicant bags, (silicate?) maybe I could search on the net.

You can find dessicant at most RV accessory dealers, people use them in thier camping trailers & Wallybegos.
