Has anyone ever tried to put the front axle on top of the front springs? This would lover the front end and almost seems like the way it should be. Would it work?

The axle is not flat on the bottom side, so when setting on the springs, the only thing keeping it from rocking in place is the u-bolts. Then you have the frame clearance issue. The one I saw had the front frame rails carved up for clearance!

Jeffrey | | | | | Joined: Jun 2007 Posts: 42 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Jun 2007 Posts: 42 | There is not a lot of travel, especially on todays roads, So you would also flip the left to the right and then you could have a flat side, change the backing plates and steering, bend the axle to adjust the steering. Any number of worms in this can, so go for it. At any rate would it be safe, doubtful.
