For helping keep this great
old truck web site
on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Jan 2015 Posts: 914 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Jan 2015 Posts: 914 | I did not pull the engine so I do not know what type of bolts, washers, nuts, length and diameter were used on the front motor mount. Except that the bolts are carriage head.
When I got the 1954 235 it was already separate from the rolling chassis.
Back story:
I am trying to get a front motor mount and the correct bolts. I have two of the four pieces that make up the front mount. A new rubber and the bottom plate. I am missing the two metal plates that sandwich the rubber piece.
My son's 1946 truck is going into the shop to have the 1954 235 rebuilt engine put back in.
I will be bringing the original 1946 engine back home, putting back together and mount the old engine on a 1945 1/2 ton rolling chassis. Going to use the chassis as an engine stand.
I don't know if I will ever do anything with that chassis but the plan is to keep the engine until the day my son decides to sell the truck. This way the new owner gets the original engine. Thanks for reading all of this. Locally sourced grade 5 coarse thread bolts can be found (but even those will take some searching...I found some marketed by Hillman). I believe the bolts are 7/16 diameter, but would have to double check to be certain. Thanks though because I'm sure someone has never seen that article before has learnt about it on my thread. Just the way I learnt about it reading someone else's thread. Stovebolter's Are Great.
Jim Carter sells the rubber and the metal plate that sits on top of the frame. I already have those two pieces and the two rear mounts.
I need the two metal pieces that sandwich the rubber.
JC lists the complete front mount assembly but it is on back order and they do not know when they will be available.
If you saw my garage you would know why I need to mount the 46 engine on the 45 rolling frame. There is no more open floor space. I'm "this" close to having to walk on things instead of walking around them. And I will have to bring the engine home by Friday. Jeffrey

I need the 3657522 and the 368449. Though I would like to get the original 3656502 as well. I also will need 4 bolts, washers and nuts. So if you can find those parts please let me know. Thanks a lot. The washer is not mentioned in the 1954 manual. The diagram of the front engine mount in my Reproduction 1947-1947 Truck FAM lost detail (Sec 6-Sheet 12.00). However, the arrow and tail for "365685 SP WASHER" indicates that the washer sits on top of the cross member and under the retainer. FAM Sect 6 - Sheet 12.00- Lonnie

If you enlarge the 1954 diagram posted, the thick washer is located under the crossmember in the same assembly order as verbally described in the referenced 1942 manual. Note that part of the washer circumference in the diagram is occluded indicating it is below the crossmember. | | |
