Didn't know if anyone else was having the same issue. The folks at Langdon's will return to their office on 10 October and I'm expecting to hear from them shortly thereafter.

It maybe something to look into. | | | | | Joined: Sep 2011 Posts: 12 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Sep 2011 Posts: 12 | Joe, do you have an application or part #s? Thanks Jerry

I used a 1976 Chevrolet C10 pickup with 250ci engine. This is the only picture I could find of a stock distributor. As you can see it has a longer wire harness to reach the remote mounted coil. http://www.ebay.com/itm/DISTRIBUTOR-6-250-4-1L-FITS-75-76-CAMARO-6467-/262745815456?fits=Make%3AChevrolet This shows the end of the harness very clearly, http://www.ebay.com/itm/1977-Chevrolet-GMC-250-292-4-1-4-8-Brand-NEW-Distributor-Lifetime-Warranty-/391624368051?fits=Make%3AChevrolet If the e-bay links get deleted, just search for " Chevrolet 250 distributor " Joe | | | | | Joined: Mar 2010 Posts: 843 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Mar 2010 Posts: 843 | Tom, On Chevy Talk High Performance Topics there is a frequent poster with the handle Ignition Man who is very knowledgeable on this subject: http://www.chevytalk.org/fusionbb/showforum.php?fid/72/keyword/Chevy_Performance/He knows which of the aftermarket distributors work and which to avoid. He also builds custom HEI distributors.

When getting one in a wrecking yard, inspect it carefully, all the terminals on the cap must be evenly spaced, odd fire Buick V6 caps will not work.

He gave me five troubleshooting steps to follow. When those steps did not solve the problem, I sent the HEI to him. He repaired the "reluctor" and returned it to me. So far the engine starts under both hot and cold conditions. We will be giving it some extensive run time in the near future.
