I have a 1950 GMC 1 Ton Stake body pickup and was wondering if anyone knew of another owner in the USA that had the same truck? I have been looking for years and haven't really found any.
If you know of another owner, would love to connect with them.
I have been trying to replace the metal rails around the outside of the truck but all I get is 'Good Luck".
Thanks George

The rotten old grain box was removed and burned by the farmer and the steel items were scrapped!!! I have access to old out of service school bus parts and the rolled steel outside barrier strips that are on all buss body's seem to be close to the correct size and profile. Grind the heads off the retaining rivets and presto side trim for our decks. Every scrap yard probably has them and they are cheap-- like me.
Good luck with the deck.

It will be about $300 in wood so if it doesn't work then I will go the next route. Thanks for the advice.

I found quite a few GMC stake body trucks. Some are big; some 1/2-ton. Many are trucks in the Gallery and some are posts in the forum. One guy was just about to start his stake body on his GMC 1/2-ton.

I believe that my truck bed was a homebuild or aftermarket. A good metal fabricator should be able to fix you up. | | |
