Im in the process off taking a 248 (A248I45293) ENGINE # BUT IT LOOKS LIIKE THIS MOTOR WAS PUT IN FROM THE FACTORY. It has been out on the fram in west tn for the last 45+ years. and i know nothing was done to it then. What is the size of your 1951 GMC pickup?

The 248 was not standard equipment on small GMC trucks in 1951, but it could have been a factory option.

Is there a metal ID plate between the hinges in the door opening on the driver's side of the cab. If there is, post the code here.

Well, I just got my motor and transmisssion off the frame and i am going to go through it, if there is any thing i need to know to help me let me know, and I would really appreicate it, Where is the best place to get parts for a 248 engine. I am around the jackson, tn area, and what color paint should the engine be painted, will it hurt to have the engine vated, and would you go back with 6 volt or 12 volt. just trying to think ahead alittle so thank you for everything you let me know about . and Thank You Again, Moonshine Mike

I have a 1951 GMC 150-22. The 150 means it's a 3/4 ton, the 22 is a long bed. Get yourself the Maintenance Manual for 1947-1954 Models 100 thru 400 for GMC TRUCKS. You can get one from The Motor Bookstore for $27. Don't remember where I bought mine years ago. Great manual.

The 22 means it came with a 228 engine. All 150s were long beds.

Just got through taking the 4-main bearning off and the rod bearning , but how do you get the crank pulley off, it looks like a hand crank pulley . I have ordered a manuel to help me but getting ready to carry it to the machine shop. THe pulley has got me puzzzeled, It looks like you might put a piece of brass rod in the hoe and get a puller Can you help me with this process, I really appricate anything you'll can learn me, and belive me i want to know, Thank you Moonshine Mike
