Has anyone used 1939 rear fenders on their 46 streetrod? I am looking at Jim Carters catalog, they say the 39 fenders are wider than the 41-46 so you can use wider tires. According to my measurements I can not use a very wide tire with the standard fenders. I am using my stock 41 for the measurements. Dave

Depending on who you ask, they are 1-1.5" wider. Not a huge difference. When I compared my 39 fenders to my 40 fenders, I came up with 11.5" vs. 13".

One can also cut the fenders near where they are not curved(near the body attach) and weld in a strip of steel the correct width.

I have '39 steel fenders on my '45 Chevy PU and they look great. I'm running 15" wheels which fill the lowered truck wheel well. I can provide pictures if you would like to see how they look. Just let me know.

Cheers,
Carlos

Did you have to special order them? When I talked to them they acted like the 39 was the same as the 41-46. Dave
