I used Chevy Duty emblem decals, looks just as good as paint. They were a perfect fit too, very impressed.

For my 56 I used a red reflective tape for the bowtie and flat black enamel over the chrome area around it. I didn't think the paint would hold over the chrome but so far it seems to be holding up pretty well over the chrome. I also used the flat black enamel to repaint my horn cover.

cvett, just remembered, I had my hood emblem sitting on my work bench after I finished it and my neighbor stopped by and saw it. Until I told him they were decals, he thought I painted it, and he was only standing about 3 feet away. (He also happens to be a body man.)

cvett,

I purchased paint in half pint factory packages from my automotive paint store. It is called "Sign Painters 1-Shot" lettering enamel. It is available in many colors and is super UV and weather resistant. After having said this, if the restoration decals/vinyl set were available for your rig, I think it would give you better results than paint. Sometimes there are no aftermarket decals available so this paint might be an option.

Thanks for all the great suggestions. Will probably try the decals first and than the paint.
