1964 C10, 230 c.i engine. My other half wants p/s. Will the Toyota steering box fit up without too much bother to this year of truck? I found one locally but seller unsure of year and model. From pics looks to be a 4x4 unit. Everything but brackets included for $125.00.
Thanks

why go to a toyota power steering box; is it because it would be cheaper to buy?
73-87 chevy truck ps is a common conversion and is a good box. you can get an adaptor plate and a new column connector from Captainfab; http://www.67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/showthread.php?t=332923 and yhey are reasonable and he will look after you if you are having any problems

I assume both of you know when dealing with the other half that money is not an issue as long as they're happy.
I've seen where the Toyota is used on some of the earlier trucks and thought it might be the ticket of the '64 up grade. I will check on the provided sites and see what I need for this up or down grade (depending on how you see it). Oh yeah, then their's the a/c to deal with this winter.
Thanks.

just tell that the manual steering is good for the shoulders and will help defeat gravitational pull.

Bob,
The common PS conversion for your year model truck is The saganaw
box from a 67/87 Chevy/GMC pickup. Several aftermarket suppliers sell the mount kit.
The Toyota box can be used on the earlier (TF) trucks as the sector shaft comes out the side like the original.
The 64 sector shaft comes out the bottom.

believe that 68 was actually the change over year for the steering box. 73-87 are a little more common to find

Thanks guys. I see my error with the Toyota box now. "Joker", I have reached out to "Captainfab". He is on holiday right now but we will figure out what I need and get it ordered.
Thanks again.

One of my past street rods had a 250. Getting power steering and A/C to mount up plus the alternator was a task. After the pulley issue was solved the mounting brackets required quite a bit of work to get the offsets for the pulleys to line up.
Found a 73-87 Chevy c10 complete front end with steering box on Craigslist this morning with disc and all, and it very close and cheap. Going to look at to see if it's the ticket. Please let me know if you guys don't think it will work. Thanks.

It will work !!
I cut off the front of the frame from a 1976 C-10 with a gas powered rotary disc track saw.
It gave me a crossmember with power steering and disc brakes. I did purchase a new master cylinder, proportioning valve and power brake booster and the mounting bracket. Put in new bushings and ball joints. Also eliminated the hydraulic clutch with a 200-4R.
It is almost a bolt in, two bolts fit, two holes to drill in frame. And remount top of shocks and brake hoses in new holes.
Mine is a 62 so unfortunately I loose the torsion bars for coil springs. But it is a upgrade retrofit for junkyard prices !

Go for it !!
Howie

it is almost a bolt in for the crossmember. think there are a couple of bolt holes that you have to elongate
