Has anyone done this conversion? There are lots of kits out there but none of them say whether or not the floor would need to be cut. I'm sick of the 3 speed popping out of gear on me. I want a permanent fix. I thought about the s10 Trans, but there seems to be mixed reviews on that too.

There is a couple recent threads on the s10 t5...in this section.read thru them and check the tech tips section. Also a regular poster by the handle of lugnutz has done a ton of documentation on the t5 and has a lot of very good information. For a daily driver the t5 is a good conversion, and cheaper than the more expensive performance version. Also I have done the s10 t5 conversion...real quick overview..1954 chev 3100,235,stock with 2 BBC carb, gmc hei distributer.t5 with modified jeep 10 spline input shaft,93 safari van long wheel base drive shaft with a rear cross over ujoint To a12 bolt posi diff out of a 78 chev 4x4 suburban. Diff ratio is not ideal at 3.08 but does the job for now. Would like 3.73 or 3.55. I'm happy with it and would do it again without a second thought.

The Tremec is a really nice transmission. I wish I could afford one. However, I am very happy with my T5. As stated, the T5 is more affordable and very suitable for a daily driver.

The Tremec has different positions for the shifter. I think extra money is involved if you want the mid-shift position, so keep that in mind when calculating the costs.

For what it's worth, I will soon be listing a V8 Camaro T5 on eBay since it has not drawn much interest locally. It has all the best features - S10 position shifter, cable speedo connection and close ratio V8 Camaro gears with the 0.73 overdrive and 2.95 first gear. Visit my BLOG for pictures - see signature.

I've been messing around with used stuff so much without luck that I was going to just buy new. The trans you have seems like a very good option though. I'm not running big power and really don't plan to. I have a crate 350 probably making around 200 HP. How much do you want for it? Or when will it hit Ebay?

I sent you a PM. I won't list it on eBay until you have made up your mind if this is right for you. If you have a 3.42 or lower rear diff then you will like these gears. Not a good match for 3.08 rear however.
