Hi all, just wanted to thank everybody again for all the advice and parts you've provided with getting this old 235 running.

I think I've got it as good as I can for now. I'm sure the valves need adjustment but from what I've read I won't be able to get that done until I get it on the road, run it till it gets nice and hot.

I've got the idle set to just under 500 RPM and dwell is about 34. The points are NOS Delco and I'm thinking the new felt will wear some at the pivot shaft, making them tighten up a little and increasing the dwell. Most posts I've read seem to recommend 38'ish on the dwell. Also, it's timed so that the ball on the flywheel lands on the pointer at idle.

Here is a short video of the truck running...I borrowed a friends phone that takes a lot better video then mine. This one is pretty clear, but the sound kinda stinks at times.

Thank you. One of the forum members sold me that 261 tube and another member help me with that PCV set up and part number for the correct valve. He was nice enough to explain it to me and show me how he bent up his lines. I basically copied how he did it.

If you remember the pn for the valve can you post it. I tried to bend one but made it to complicated. Yours has less bends. Engine sounds good. Hope you are not near the fires.

I have the PN for you, its AC Part Number CV695C. I got this NOS AC PCV valve, found it on eBay. They come up from time to time, if you'd like to get one just be patient, you'll find them on there at a reasonable price from time to time.

Thanks Fred, that old Rochester I got from you works like a champ. I still need to swap in the 3 Speed OD tranny and wire it up with the harness but probably won't get to that until winter.

Next thing on the list is go get the metal work done so I can get the front clip back on the truck.

jaydee,

What is the size and where did you get the fitting threaded into the manifold just below the carburetor attachment? I have a 1958 235 and need a replacement fitting for my 235 rebuild.

Thanks,

John

Hi John,

That is a 1/2 NPT male brass fitting with a 3/8 NPT female to 3/8 NPT male to female flare 90 elbow fitting. Then it's just a 3/8 male flare off of the PCV tube into the 90 elbow.

I got those fittings from a local fastener shop in my area but I think you can find them at most hardware stores, probably in the plumbing section.

Did that answer your question?

jaydee,

I believe you did. Thank you so much. I'll be off to the local hardware store shortly.

John
