What is the "Best" way to accomplish this upgrade? I have the new tank and sender already just need to determine the proper way to plumb it.
I'm using the original 216 and the only modification to the truck is to the brake system (dual circuit master cylinder and Bendix brakes front and rear).

Easier to plumb to than going inside the cab. Plug off the outlet on the sending unit if there is one and get it going. | | | | Joined: Sep 2001 Posts: 29,262 Bubba - Curmudgeon | Bubba - Curmudgeon Joined: Sep 2001 Posts: 29,262 | | | | | Joined: May 2001 Posts: 7,440 Extreme Gabster | Extreme Gabster Joined: May 2001 Posts: 7,440 | Measure the length of tube you need, buy one from flaps and bend where needed. | | | | Joined: Dec 2003 Posts: 1,060 'Bolter | 'Bolter Joined: Dec 2003 Posts: 1,060 | I did this on my 52. I think the line went straight forward to the edge of the tank, bent 90 degrees down and out an existing hole. The over towards the frame rail and generally along the rail then 90 degrees over to the block and another 90 into the fuel pump. I just sealed off the old gravity feed hole in the tank by using a bolt.

Place the normal foam/rubber seal between the tank and the floor, around that hole in the floor. | | | | Joined: Mar 2010 Posts: 10,059 Renaissance Man | Renaissance Man Joined: Mar 2010 Posts: 10,059 | I just did that modification on my '49. I bent the new line at the top of the tank to reach the vertical indentation in the center of the tank in the front, sending it straight down to the floor just behind the seat base. I drilled a new hole in the floor because the original hole is not in line with the center indentation of the tank. A short soft line with with two female brake line fitting ends go from there to the line heading to the fuel pump. Carl

The stock 216 fuel pump has no problem pulling fuel up and out the top of the tank. Had to drill a new exit hole for the new fuel line to exit underneath the floorboard and found a new rubber grommet at either Lowes or Ace. | | |
