GM changed both the glove box design and the hinges in '49. That's ok. The dash isn't original anyway. It's a mystery replacement from somewhere between 1947 and 1953. Figuring I had a 50-50 chance, I bought a new glove box for an early '49. The screw holes match up but it's tight. The last corner won't fit over the dash metal. So, is size the only difference between the boxes or do I have the right one, and a later model box won't even match up? If the box is right but tight, does anyone recommend moistening the cardboard to slide it on?
