So I'm ready to go thru the doors on my 49' 3100. When I got it the doors had all the typical problems. Handle droop, door only latches partway, poor fit in door opening, hard to crank handles and just general disrepair. I'm going to start with adjusting the fit in the cab opening, then attack the latch issue. Any tips or cans of worms not to be opened?

Start with the hinges. You will likely need to replace the hinge pins and hold-open springs. Without tight hinges, you will likely never get the doors aligned properly.
While fitting the doors to the openings, make sure that you do it without the sponge door seals on, and leave the striker plates off. Concentrate on lining up the belt lines front and back, and the gaps.

This has been posted several times, I saved the link. It has useful info....especially on the importance of the striker placement and adjustment. Getting full engagement of the latch to the striker is critical.
